Lung cancer (both small-cell and
non small-cell) is the 2nd most common cancer in men (after prostate
cancer) and 3rd in women (after skin and breast cancers). It
accounts for approximately 15% of all new cancers.
It is estimated that in 2008,
approximately 215,020 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed (114,690 among
men and 100,330 among women) in the United States.
