melanoma (skin cancer)

Cancer of the skin is the most common of all cancers.

Although it accounts for only about 3% of cases, melanoma is the most fatal form of skin cancer. It is estimated that in 2008, approximately 62,480 new cases of melanoma will be diagnosed in the United States.
