The following books are some of my favorites and those I've found as most helpful during my journey. Read on and may you experience empowerement through knowledge!

Breast Cancer? Breast Health! The Wise Woman Way
A book written by Susun S. Weed

Written for women diagnosed with breast cancer and for women who want to maintain breast health, this book is wonderfully informative and one that every woman should read.

Crazy Sexy Cancer
A documentary film

In 2003, 31-year-old actress/photographer Kris Carr was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. Weeks later she began filming her story. Taking a seemingly tragic situation and turning it into a creative expression, Kris shares her inspirational story of survival with courage, strength, and lots of humor. Kris also recently wrote a book called "Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips" that contains some of the content from the film and more! Available in bookstores and on her web site www.crazysexycancer.com.

Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips
A book written by Kris Carr, Foreword by Sheryl Crow

As Kris Carr puts it, this book is "Part memoir, part tips, tricks, how-to's, and insights. My posse of 13 unbelievable survivor babes contribute their lessons to my adventure story too.  There is no other book like this on the market and it is VERY different from the film folks." Check it out!

For kids:

A book written by Alaric Lewis, OSB and illustrated by R.W. Alley

This book will help kids cope with the presence of cancer in their lives. May it guide them to a healthier understanding of how the disease affects their loved ones, their family, and their world.

A book written by Jopi Havlik and illustrated by April Willy

Based on the real-life events she experienced during treatment, Yopi Havlik wrote the book "Why Is Mommy Sleeping?" for families dealing with breast cancer. Yopi's hope for the book is that it will makes it easier for parents to explain to their children what to expect in the many months during treatment and recovery.
